End UserO365 Multi-factor authentication setup

End-User Office 365 MFA Setup 

 

  1. 1. Download/install your preferred MFA application to your phone, ie authy, Microsoft authenticator, or you can use duo since some have it installed already. These can be found from the app store on your phone. 

  1. 2. From your preferred web browser go to https://www.office.com/ 

  1. 3. In the top right corner select Sign in

  2.  

  1. 4. Sign in using your email credentials 

  1. 5. You will receive an “Action Required” screen, select “Next” 

  1. 6. If you are using the Microsoft Authenticator app select next once installed, if using another authenticator, select “I want to use a different authenticator app”  

  1. 7. Follow prompts on screen to add the account to your authenticator (be sure to name it something obvious to identify what login this is for.) 

  1. 8. Verify that your account is set up correctly by adding the code or accepting the push notification if using the Microsoft Authenticator.  

  1. 9. Once Set up you might need to put in your code for your desktop apps (Outlook, Teams, etc) 1 time but modern authentication will pick up and make it unnecessary to perform this function every time.
